I'm also a Japanese language learner and enjoy several aspects of the Japanese culture, from Japanese music (I lean towards R&B/pop/rock) to anime and JDrama. I blog with a couple of my friends at The Wondercores, a lifestyle, entertainment, and travel blog about all things Japan. :) I won the 8th Annual Japanese Speech Contest in March 2015, and was extremely privileged to be the only Kenyan selected for a fully funded study-tour program by the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute in Kansai, Japan. It was a great experience, and you can read all about it on The Wondercores blog here.
I love to travel! I'm slowly building my travel repertoire, one trip at a time. Next stop: everywhere! When I'm not dreaming of my next exotic trip, you can probably find me sitting barefoot somewhere, hunched over my laptop, writing (what I think is) awesome code or singing along to really loud Japanese music... or both. :D
1993: Hello World!
I was born on January 6, 1993, in the lovely city of Nairobi, Kenya. I made my debut just in time to watch the rising of the sun which would herald the beginning of a bright, sunny day the likes of which the world had never seen before...
Actually, I'm not sure what the weather was like or what time of day it was... but everything else is true. :)
1999 - 2016: 8-4-4
I just graduated from Strathmore University where I studied Informatics.
While at Strathmore I got involved with a tech start-up, Henga, which was easily one of my wiser decisions in uni. ;) Through Henga I got my start in software development and learnt the in's and out's of running a business (and juggling multiple commitments!).
Henga is still doing great things, so do check them out! :)
2016 - Present: Andela
I'm currently a software developer at Andela under the Andela Fellowship, a technical leadership program designed to shape the top 1% of African tech talent into elite, world-class software developers.
Andela identifies high-potential developers on the African continent, shape them into world-class technical leaders, and pair them with companies as full-time, distributed team members. Learn more at www.andela.com.
